DAVID MILLMAN
BIOGRAPHY:
David Millman received a BA from Southern Illinois University and an MFA from Pratt Institute. He has freelanced as a photographer and illustrator, taught adult portrait sculpture classes, and worked at ABC Network News as a graphic artist for 28 years.
He has received many awards including an individual creative achievement Emmy for his illustrations on ABC's Nightline special The Cuban Missile Crisis Anniversary and a George Foster Peabody Award for coverage of 9/11.
His work has been exhibited at the Society of Illustrators, The Broadcast Designers Association, The St. Louis Artist's Guild, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, The St. Augustine Art Association, The Art League of Hilton Head, The Glynn Art Association, Jekyll Island's Goodyear Gallery, and Darien's Old Jail Art Center.
He is represented in the permanent collections of the John F. Kennedy Memorial Library, the Springfield Museum of Art, the Paducah Artist's Guild, Sculpture House, Inc., Franklin Mint and Pratt Institute as well as the private collections of George C. Scott, Mickey Mantle, and Willie Mays. Millman currently resides on St. Simons Island.
ARTIST'S STATEMENT:
Art is the thumb of humankind. It allows us to grasp the universe. Art is also a dialogue. What the artist omits allows the viewer to span gaps and construct bridges. They become the artist. Then the art comes alive.
